1. Mumbai Indians

2. Royal Challengers Bangalore

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) was founded in 2008 and is owned by United Spirits, a company part of the famous British beverage group Diageo. Earlier, the team was owned by Vijay Mallya but changed in 2016. 

Although RCB hasn’t won an IPL title yet, they’ve made it to the finals a few times (2009, 2011, 2016). Popular players like Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers have led the team.

3. Gujarat Titans

Gujarat Titans,  established in 2021. The team is owned by CVC Capital Partners, a global private equity firm known for its big investments. In their first season, the Gujarat Titans won the IPL trophy in 2022, making them super popular! 

Their captain is Shubham Gill, a talented all-rounder, and key players include  Rashid Khan and Sai Kishore, Rahul Tewatia. With such strong players and great leadership, the Titans win in future IPL seasons as well!

4. Kolkata Knight Riders

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) was established in 2008 and is owned by Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, actress Juhi Chawla, and her husband Jay Mehta. KKR has won the IPL thrice in 2012, 2014, and 2024. 

The captain is the talented Indian cricketer Venkatesh Iyer, and key players include Rinku Singh, Sunil Narine, Harshit Rana, and Ramandeep Singh. With their star-studded ownership and strong squad, KKR remains one of the most popular IPL teams.

5. Lucknow Super Giants

The Lucknow Super Giants were established in 2021 and quickly became one of the most exciting teams in the IPL! The RPSG Group owns the team, led by businessman Sanjiv Goenka, who is also involved in sectors like power and infrastructure.

The team was bought for ₹7,090 crore, making it one of the most expensive franchises in IPL history! With Rishabh Pant as possible future captain, the team has key players like David Miller, Aiden Markram, and Avesh Khan.

6. Sunrisers Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) is an IPL team founded in 2012. It’s owned by Kalanithi Maran of the Sun TV Network, a major media company in India. SRH won the IPL once in 2016. 

The captain is Pat Cummins. Key players include Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, and Nitish Kumar Reddy. With a great mix of talent, SRH has become a fan favorite!

7. Delhi Capitals

The Delhi Capitals are owned by Sajjan Jindal and Parth Jindal, the GMR Group, and JSW Group, two big companies involved in aviation, sports, and infrastructure. They’ve been improving over the years, but their first IPL title is still just a dream. 

Axar Patel is leading the team for the 2025 season and has key players like Kuldeep Yadav, Harry Brook, and Tristan Stubbs.  Although they haven’t won the IPL yet, they’re known for their exciting matches and young talent!

8. Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings was founded in 2008 and is owned by the Mohit Burman-led group Ness Wadia, Preity Zinta, and Karan Paul.  The team has not won an IPL title yet but is always a contender and the team has only once t reached the IPL final in 2014. 

The team is currently led by Shreyas Iyer, with key players like Arshdeep Singh, Glenn Maxwell, and Marcus Stoinis.

9. Rajasthan Royals

Rajasthan Royals is one of the original IPL teams, and they were the champions in 2008. The team is owned by Media IPL Ltd, led by Manoj Badale.

10. Chennai Super Kings

Chennai Super Kings is one of the most successful teams in IPL history, winning multiple titles. India Cements, a large company in the cement industry, owns them.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, the team’s captain. The team has players like Devon Gaikwad, Rachin Ravindra, and Shivam Dube. 

Despite being banned for two years in 2016-2017, CSK made a strong comeback and quickly regained their position as one of the most popular teams in the league.
