The final date for the IPL 2026 auction is yet to be finalised. However, reports suggest the auction might take place in the second or third week of December between December 13 and 15. So far, the league’s governing body has not finalised the auction date.
The auction may be held in India rather than overseas, unlike the last two editions, which were in Dubai and Jeddah. There are no major widespread player changes expected, but teams like Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals (both of which underperformed last season) could make more changes.
Players such as Deepak Hooda, Vijay Shankar, Rahul Tripathi, Sam Curran and Devon Conway are reportedly on the release list. One player to watch for in the auction is Cameron Green (Australia). He missed the last auction due to injury, and there’s strong interest in him for 2026.
Rajasthan Royals may keep their captain Sanju Samson, unless a trade deal happens. There were talks that the team could release Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana, but with Kumar Sangakkara returning as head coach, those plans might change.
Several players like T Natarajan, Mitchell Starc, Akash Deep, Mayank Yadav, and David Miller could be looking for new teams, though nothing is confirmed yet. The same goes for Venkatesh Iyer, who was bought by KKR for ₹23.75 crore in the last auction.
